Day 48&49 ----> Becoming Younger

Sunday May 10th
The scene:
Happy Mother's Day! Farmer's Market this gorgeous damp and sunny morning. Chefing Day of cheezy kale chips (which I'm attempting to make myself for the first time) and onion bread. I love to chef the day of the market when everything is fresh. Frees up some fridge space too ---> I so enjoy being practical and feminine at the same time!

Upon Rising: 32 oz water w/ alkalizing pH drops; 1/2 tsp therapeutic enzymes
AM: 1 strawberry at the market
Breakfast: 1 date, finger full of cheezy kale dip
Lunch: 1/4 cucumber; 2 roma tomatoes; tahini garlic dressing; green onion; 3/4 avocado; large handful of sunflower green sprouts
Dinner: tomato spinach soup from Raw Food For Busy People 2; handful cashews

What was Walker about today?
  • Not all that munchy today, gratefully. Ate dinner early (which is definitely Walker-style: finish Before The Sun Goes Down), so I had a nice flat belly when I woke up this morning because I was all fully digested...it's the little rewards, you know?
What did I discover today?
Q: So if you don't have CocoChia can you just mix your own coconut and chia seeds together? If so, what percentage (approximately, of course) is chia seeds?
A:
I'm grateful for your clarifying question. I'm sure you're not the only one wondering.
You sure can mix your own!
Just use 1 1/2 C shredded coconut
and 1/4-1/2 C chia seed

The amount of chia seed you add should depend on how much you eat in one sitting.
  • LEAST: If you intend to splurge and eat the ENTIRE batch at once, don't use too much chia. You could get dehydrated with the amount of water it absorbs.
  • MOST: On the opposite spectrum, if you can eat like a little mouse and only have a cookie a day (i don't know how in the world people do that), put in as much chia seed as still tastes yummy (maybe even 3/4 - 1 C).
  • MIDDLE ROAD: If you are somewhere in the middle, like me, you can use the recipe measurements I outlined in the video.

Monday May 11th
The scene: The Raw Food World workday ---> braved it by going to the warehouse. It's less stressful work-wise to be in the hub of action. I can get immediate answers to most of my questions rather than waiting for emails to come through from my co-workers. BUT, as you know, I have a difficult time resisting the storehouse of raw siren yumminess.

Upon Rising: 32 oz water w/ alkalizing pH drops; 1/2 tsp therapeutic enzymes
AM: 16 oz OJ
Breakfast: ----
Lunch: 1 x cheezy kale chip; 1 x contrast cookie
Dinner: tomato spinach soup from Raw Food For Busy People 2; a few pieces of my homemade onion bread

What was Walker about today?
  • Filling the Water Tank first thing in the mornin' - Fill 'er up!
  • OJ

Q: Is an acidophilus supplement effective for general health, skin, digestive system, etc
?
A:
Acidophilus is a probiotic.
Probiotics are dietary supplements containing potentially beneficial bacteria or yeasts.
But Acidophilus is just one strand and there are a few more our body needs for balance:
  • L. Salivarius
  • L. Plantarum
  • L. Acidophilus
  • Bifidus Longum
  • L. Casei
  • Pure Reuteri cultures
The more strands the better.
One isn't better than the other, generally speaking.
When our body is out of balance and needing more beneficial bacteria, we need ALL strands, not just the one that gets marketed the best in health stores :)

The colon is the root of all disease; if the bad bacteria in the colon are allowed to take over, they can and do cause any symptoms imaginable. The colon is the source; therefore, it's also the solution!

Probiotics are especially good to take if gasey, bloated, constipated, frequent headaches, candida, or continual stress.

If possible, it would be good to do enemas or professional colonics in conjunction with probiotic therapy. Or at least some kind of lower bowel cleanse such as Colosan; otherwise, it might be a bit of a waste of money to put wonderful probiotics into an environment that's just too polluted for them to make much of a difference.

The Raw World carries my favorites: Freddie's Blend for maximum support and also Dr.Fred Bisci's Premium Probiotics.

  • In direct response to your question: Healthy glowing silky skin comes from healthy insides - that result is not a quick fix.
  • Probiotics support health and balance, but they are not a miracle for any condition --- no one thing is, really.
  • Completely eliminating refined sugars and processed starches is the best step anyone can do to improve their health. Baby steps still get you to the top...and look how adorable you could look taking that next step (whatever it is for you)!
From my gut to yours, I hope this information is helpful in some way...

  3. About the pH drops:

Currently, I don't do many smoothies.
It's not really necessary as the fruit or greens will lower the pH of the smoothie.
Just as veggies take care of the pH in a vegetable juice.

It's just straight water usually that needs the transmutation.
Personally, i never realized how acidic just plain water is, even purified.
They are developing many alkalized waters now, but the cost can be discouraging.

I've found pH drops an effective and affordable middle road. Not to mention more portable!

Much appreciation for your question Nancy!
It feels rewarding for me to be in communication with you, who are reading...

    To yummy days,
    Michelle

  4. Kale Chippies!
    Ooooo!
I'm so excited to check out your recipe.
I was impressed with the taste of my batter, but disappointed overall with how the chips turned out.
    Not enough punch or crunch.
What a gift to have you share the recipe...I'll for sure check it out and give my feedback :)
